58 horses picked up the blessing in Au

58 very special beauties recently came to the riding arena in Au/Hallertau to collect the traditional blessing from Pastor Voss.

– Due to the pandemic, the blessing of horses in Au has had to be canceled in recent years.

Not so this year, which is why the board of directors of the riding and driving club around Johanna Trostl brought the tradition back to life this year.

With 58 horses, the response exceeded that of previous years many times over.

The reasons can only be guessed at.

The dry weather, the good organization of the organizer and the desire to keep the event certainly contributed to participation.

The hope of some horse lovers that the church blessing after Corona could not harm horses and riders may have led one or the other team to the Whit Monday ride on the premises of the riding club.

In addition to the animals and their owners, more than 300 believers made their way to the end of the village in the direction of Seysdorf to attend the Catholic Mass celebrated by Pastor Clemens Voss.

The riders had their four-legged darlings well under control.

As befits a horse blessing, many a word of the priest with a snort or a strong neighing did not go uncommented.

The noise level of the horses was kept within limits despite the large number.

On the other hand, the numerous historical bulldogs chugging past the stables provided a much greater background noise.

They were all on their way to the classic car meeting at the Holledauer Weisse Pfingstfest (we reported).

After 45 minutes the celebration was over.

With the concluding words of the priest, who, through the intercession of Saint Leonhard, asked for the protection of the four-legged friends from illness and accidents, everyone started on their way home.
