A teacher from Bad Arolsen (Hessen) died in a rampage in Berlin.

She was on a graduation trip with her class.

Many students are also among the injured.

Bad Arolsen - It should be a happy event - a final trip to the capital Berlin.

Now there is sadness and bewilderment.

Class 10 at the Kaulbach School in Bad Arolsen was on a class trip.

On Wednesday morning, the students and their teacher were out and about in downtown Berlin on the Ku'damm.

At around 10:30 a.m., a small car drove into the pedestrian group.

A 29-year-old man is behind the wheel.

Investigators are now assuming it was an amok attack.

A teacher from Hesse is killed in the incident.

According to the current status, another teacher is seriously injured, the Hessian state government announced.

According to the police, 14 students are among the injured.

There was conflicting information about the number of victims.

In total, the police assume that around 20 people were injured.

According to the fire department, six people are said to be in mortal danger and three people are seriously injured.

Many people are in psychological care.

Bad Arolsen: teacher with her class on a graduation trip in Berlin

The school will start regular operations on Thursday and at the same time receive the students who are being brought back from Berlin by bus, said the mayor of Bad Arolsen, Marko Lambion of the dpa.

A graduating class with 24 students at a secondary school in Bad Arolsen was affected.

They should be cared for and taken care of.

“The day here in Bad Arolsen was very sad.

Our sympathy goes to the teacher's family and of course our thoughts are with all relatives and wish them strength and comfort during this difficult time," said the mayor.

"Of course we are also with the students who had to experience this event today."

A crisis team was set up on site in Bad Arolsen.

The parents of the students would be looked after extensively, partly by pastors, but also by the police.

The arrival of the students is currently being organized, but it is not yet certain when they will arrive.

Bad Arolsen: Parents didn't know where their children were

The incident in Berlin caused consternation in the small town of Bad Arolsen in Hesse.

"The college was in shock," says Jürgen van der Horst, District Administrator of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district, in the RTL interview.

Parents and teachers at the school didn't know where their children were, which children were injured and where they were currently being cared for.

In the meantime, everything has been clarified, according to the district administrator.

The state government reacted with deep dismay to the incident.

"This shocking news from Berlin leaves me stunned and deeply affected.

My thoughts are with the victims, who were full of joy on a school trip in the capital.

I offer my deepest condolences to the family of the deceased teacher.

I sincerely hope that everyone who was injured makes a full recovery.

Hesse has offered the city of Berlin all kinds of support," said Prime Minister Boris Rhein.
