Chinese Defense Minister: We will fight to the end to prevent attempts to separate Taiwan

Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fengyi announced that his country will fight to the end to prevent attempts to separate Taiwan, which he reiterated as an inalienable part of Chinese territory.

"If any side tries to separate Taiwan from China, we will not hesitate to fight and we will fight at any cost to the end," Fengi was quoted as saying by the RIA Novosti news agency at the Shangri-La security conference in Singapore.

In their first talks on the sidelines of the aforementioned conference last Friday, the Chinese Defense Minister warned his US counterpart Lloyd Austin that the Chinese army would not hesitate to thwart any attempt to achieve Taiwan independence and protect China's national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

On the other hand, the Chinese Defense Minister reiterated that the pressure of sanctions will complicate the situation and will not help solve the problem in Ukraine.

"The war in Ukraine is the last thing China would like to see, and at the same time, we do not believe that maximum pressure or sanctions can solve the problem, but rather they can increase tension and complicate the situation further," the Chinese minister added.

At the same time, the Chinese minister stressed that Sino-Russian relations are "a partnership, not an alliance" and are not directed against any third party.

Fengyi stressed that China supports the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine and hopes to conduct negotiations between the United States and NATO with Russia in order to create conditions for a ceasefire at an early date.
