London court confirms UK may fly asylum seekers to Rwanda
The agreement with Rwanda provides for people who have arrived illegally in Great Britain to be flown to the East African country so that they can apply for asylum there.
In return, Rwanda receives corresponding payments.
The British government wants to use this to deter refugees.
Refugee and human rights organizations consider the agreement to be a violation of the right to asylum.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Conservative government got the green light for the controversial plan before the High Court in London on Friday.
According to government plans, the first plane with around 30 people on board should take off for Rwanda on Tuesday.
However, the competent court of appeals should deal with the case on Monday.
