Pentecost holidays and beautiful weather - perfect for a bike trip.

With seven tours in Munich and the surrounding area, whole families can relax and cycle in peace.

The people of Munich are drawn out into the countryside: this weekend, too, many are looking forward to a bike trip.

But if you still have one more journey ahead of you before the start of the tour, you could be in for a nasty surprise.

Holiday traffic jams threaten by car and those who transport their bikes by train have to share the limited space with the many 9-euro ticket trippers.

We therefore show tours in Munich and the surrounding area that are particularly idyllic and interesting - so that you can start cycling in peace and without stress and enjoy nature.

The relaxation tour to the Allacher Lohe

The easy 13-kilometer tour starts in the Luitpoldpark and leads to four lakes in the north-west: via the Olympic Park to Lake Lerchenau.

From there you cycle via the Max-Wönner-Straße to the Fasaneriesee and finally via the Schnepfenweg to the Pappelallee, which leads to the Feldmochinger See in a very rural way.

After a brief cool down, we continue to the fourth lake in the Allacher Lohe.

Swimming is not allowed here, but the pond and the deciduous forest offer peace and quiet.

The Mangfall Cycle Path

The 66-kilometre-long Mangfall cycle path connects Munich with Rosenheim: from Ostbahnhof it goes to Neuperlach, Perlach, Ottobrunn and Höhenkirchen.

Strengthening is possible in the brewery inn Aying.

From Feldkirchen-Westerham, the fairly flat route runs along the Mangfall.

Via Bruckmühl, Bad Aibling - a detour to the spa park or to the church of St. Sebastian is worthwhile here - and Kolbermoor you can reach Rosenheim after a four-and-a-half hour drive.

The Munich-Augsburg Tour

The 83-kilometre-long Munich-Augsburg cycle path offers plenty of natural beauty and cultural highlights.

The starting point here is the German Museum.

From there we head in the direction of Nymphenburg, via the Blutenburg out into the countryside.

Via Gröbenzell and Olching you cycle along the Amper through the alluvial forests to Fürstenfeldbruck.

The route continues across fields and villages and leads in the Aichach-Friedberg district to Lake Mandichose and then via the Augsburg city forest to the Fuggerstadt.

Always along the worm

It doesn't always have to be the Isar: the Würm also has great charm.

A route of around 25 kilometers runs along the river from the Pasing train station to Lake Starnberg.

Head south through the Pasinger Stadtpark.

Past the Gräfelfingen mill wheel, the tour continues via Planegg, Stockdorf and Gauting.

Follow the Würmlauf and reach a very scenic, partly uphill section of the route via Mühlthal and Petersbrunn to Starnberg.

Alternatively, you can also take a route to Mühlthal via Leutstetten and the Leutstettener Moos, where the remains of a Roman estate can be seen.

In Percha, cyclists can then jump into Lake Starnberg.

On to the Ismaninger reservoir

A paradise for waterfowl is the Ismaninger reservoir.

A tour there starts from the train station in Ismaning.

Passing the baroque castle, which is now used as the town hall, we head north via the district of Fischerhäuser along the Isar.

From there, the route continues through the countryside to the reservoir (not suitable for swimming), where there is a place to stop at the Finsinger Alm.

You cycle back to Ismaning via the Goldachhof.

The 27-kilometer tour takes around one hour and 45 minutes.

Terminal tour around the airport

Travel flair without taking off: that's what you get on the environmental cycle path around Munich Airport.

It takes two to three hours to cover the 18-kilometer route.

The path runs along the Nordallee and the aprons as well as the southern runways.

It consists mainly of gravel and asphalt sections, the starting point is between the extension of Terminal 1 and the energy center.

At 16 stations, cyclists can use QR codes to find out about environmental protection measures at the airport.

The Panoramaweg Isar-Inn

The Panoramaweg Isar-Inn begins at the Ludwigsbrücke and leads out of the city via the Ostbahnhof.

From Trudering it's a bit through the Truderinger Forest to Solalinden and on via Keferloh, Grasbrunn and Harthausen.

You drive through a moraine landscape and forest pieces again and again.

After two and a half hours, the cyclists reach Grafing, where, for example, the parish church of St. Ägidius is worth seeing.

Ambitious cyclists can continue to Wasserburg am Inn, the whole route is 68 kilometers long.
