The Directorate of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform in Daraa estimated the farmers' production in the current season at more than 65 thousand tons.
The head of the plant production department in the Daraa Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Wael Al-Ahmad, stated in a statement to SANA reporter today that the planned area for spring potatoes this season amounted to 1,094 hectares, 2170 hectares were cultivated, with an implementation rate of 198.3 percent, indicating that the cultivation is concentrated in the areas of Nawa, Izraa and Daraa.
He added that the Directorate of Agriculture cooperates with the departments concerned with agriculture to give farmers production requirements at encouraging prices, especially seeds through the Foundation for Seed and Fuel Multiplication through the Sub-Fuel Committee, indicating that the productivity of one hectare of potatoes in this season is estimated at 30 tons despite the conditions of frost, rain and high temperatures. that the area was subjected to.
The area planted with potatoes in Daraa last season amounted to 2,670 hectares, exceeding the planned plan of 1,408 hectares by 1,262 hectares.
