In the night from Friday to Saturday, violent clashes broke out in Carpentras (Vaucluse), in the city center, while the police have been deployed for several days in other sensitive areas of the city due to shootings.
According to
Le Dauphiné Libéré
, a fight first broke out along the city walls on Friday evening, and continued in the center, towards the Place du Marché-aux-Birds.
Witnesses alerted the police following gunshots.
The police, intervening around one o'clock in the morning, were able to restore calm, after having arrested three men aged 22, 33 and 44.
They were carrying a machete and an alarm pistol, which were seized.

For several days, riots and shootings have punctuated the lives of residents of sensitive areas of the city, such as the city of Amandiers and Pous-du-Plan.
Mortar fire and barricades have been observed in particular in recent nights.
Eight arrests were made on Friday.
One of the reasons for the tensions would be drug trafficking: several clans would compete for the "
conquest
" of the city, according to
