Legislative: what are the projections in seats within the Nupes?

2022-06-12T21:50:09.033Z

The left should be able to divide between 150 and 190 seats of deputies at the end of the second round of the legislative elections, which will be held

Jean-Luc Mélenchon had promised to unite the left in respect of all political sensitivities.

The agreement concluded at the end of the presidential election should therefore guarantee the Socialist Party, the Communist Party and also Europe Ecology-the Greens to have a parliamentary group by each obtaining more than fifteen seats of deputies.

Was the promise kept on the evening of the first round of the legislative elections?

Difficult to say with precision, but the projections revealed by the polling institutes tend to prove that this could well be the case.

If the Nupes rises neck and neck with the presidential majority in number of votes, the balance of power should be unbalanced at the level of the constituencies in seats obtained.

The left should thus obtain between 150 and 190 seats of deputies, according to the projections revealed by Ipsos-Sopra Steria.

Communists worse off?

Of this total, the Insoumis should be the big winners of the union.

The majority of these seats should go to them, with 96 to 115 deputies elected for 326 candidates invested.

Such a result would represent a huge gain compared to 2017, when the rebels only won in 17 constituencies.

Europe Ecology-the Greens and the Socialists can hope for a roughly equivalent number of seats.

The group of ecologists could be made up of 20 to 30 elected officials, against 24 to 29 for the socialists.

100 constituencies had been reserved for ecologists, against 70 for the socialists.

As a reminder, the PS had obtained 45 seats in 2017 by only allying with the left radicals.

The situation could be a little more complicated for the Communists.

Obtaining a parliamentary group is not at all guaranteed to them.

The projections of Ipsos-Sopra Steria effectively give them between 10 and 11 seats for 50 candidates invested.

Five years ago, the PCF postponed 11 constituencies.

A group had been able to be formed with deputies from overseas.

“La Nupes comes first, it will be present in more than 500 constituencies in the second round”, commented Jean-Luc Mélenchon this Sunday evening at the end of the first round.

"It is this common banner that has brought together the electorates", added the boss of ecologists Julien Bayou.

The next few weeks will be decisive in determining the outcome of the union of the left.

Will the different political formations continue to work together?

Or will they vote separately.

Asked about the subject on the France 2 set, the socialist mayor of Le Mans Stéphane Le Foll, a fierce opponent of Nupes, promises him a very bleak future.

“I am betting that this alliance will, at one time or another, experience serious rifts because there is nothing very coherent between the positions of each other,” he commented.

Consult the results of the legislative elections, constituency by constituency, in particular the results in Paris, Marseille or Lyon, as well as the results in the constituencies of Hauts-de-Seine, Val-de-Marne, Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-d 'Oise, Essonne, Seine-et-Marne, Yvelines and in the Oise.
