The macronists and the mélenchonistes with key-key.

Who would have imagined this configuration a few weeks ago.

At the start of the presidential campaign marked by the outbreak of war in Ukraine, the head of state seemed untouchable and the left in a desperate coma.

Macron was re-elected, and largely;

Mélenchon was well beaten, and from the first round.

But by one of these mini-earthquakes that they like to cause and subject their political class, the French have once again heckled a too conventional landscape.

Be careful, the almost equality of the first round does not announce a Hitchcockian suspense for the second.

The logic of the majority vote and the difference in the potential for enlargement in the second round mean that the Ensemble cartel should still retain a majority, even relative, in the National Assembly.

But after the magnitude of the 2017 victory - with an absolute majority for LREM alone - the head of state will probably only have a lead...
