A hotly contested constituency was announced, after a particularly tough campaign between the outgoing deputy for the eighth constituency, Michel Herbillon (LR) and Emmanuel Macron's former Minister of Housing, Emmanuelle Wargon (LREM).

The atmosphere this Sunday in the four cities, Maisons-Alfort, Joinville-le-Pont, Charenton-le-Pont and Saint-Maurice remained tense while waiting for the scores of this first round.

Throughout the day, the various candidates toured the communes, scrutinized the holding of the polling stations.

But this Sunday evening in the town hall of Maisons-Alfort, where the centralizing office is located, the faces of the militants of the Republicans and the Republic on the move remain closed.

According to the first results, Emmanuelle Wargon would not be qualified for the second round.

Michel Herbillon would arrive in the lead, followed by Erik Pagès.

“We are in the final, we are in the final”

“We are in the final, we are in the final”, begin to sing the Nupes activists, on the forecourt of the town hall.

The only smiling candidate for the moment is indeed Erik Pagès.

"The Herbillon Wargon duel had been set up from scratch, the voters are fed up with old-fashioned politics, airdrops... Again today, we had to intervene against a president of the office who called people on the list sign-off for them to come and vote!

During the day, Emmanuelle Wargon, a resident of Saint-Mandé, had first voted in her city, before creating the surprise by voting a second time, in Charenton, thanks to the proxy of a person around her.

This Sunday evening, after having represented the Republic in March on TV sets, Emmanuel Macron's candidate was still awaiting the final results.

"The scores are not good, it's true, but we are waiting for the total number of voters to see if a triangular is still possible", blows the ex-Minister of Housing.

The former Minister of Housing hoped to succeed in her integration into this constituency which brings together nearly 78,000 voters.

During the first round of the presidential election, Emmanuel Macron arrived ahead of Jean-Luc Mélenchon with 32% of the vote, against 25% for the leader of France Insoumise.

Valérie Pécresse, candidate of the Republicans, had obtained only 7% of the votes.

Find the results in Vitry-sur-Seine (9th and 10th constituencies), in Créteil in the 1st and 2nd constituencies, in Champigny (1st and 5th constituencies), but also in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés (1st constituency) or even Ivry-sur-Seine in the 10th constituency, Maisons-Alfort in the 8th constituency and L'Haÿ-les-Roses, where former Sports Minister Roxana Maracineanu

is a candidate in the 7th constituency.

The right-wing candidate, Michel Herbillon, former mayor of Maisons-Alfort who is very popular in this sector, hopes to save him his seat as deputy, which he has held since 1997. Facing them, Erik Pagès, candidate for France Insoumise representing the Nupes, responsible for a social housing center and thirty years old, welcomes this Sunday the "work of his team and the favorable national dynamic", hoping to tip the constituency, even if the four cities are led by the Republicans.

The campaign focused a lot on Emmanuelle Wargon's “parachuting” on one side and Michel Herbillon's “excess mandate” on the other.

In all, there are eleven candidates to compete for this sector: Zohra Lamimi (DVG), Erik Pagès (LFI for Nupes), Franck Chalendar (Les Patriotes), Amandine Cheyns (Labour struggle), Stéphanie Hugon (DVG), Olivier Buclin ( Reconquest), Elisabeth Vuillard (RN), Alexandra Scotto (Animalist Party), Michel Herbillon (LR), Mickaël Mourlin (POID) and Emmanuelle Wargon (Ensemble).
