Roscosmos Director General Dmitry Rogozin announced the resumption of negotiations with the European Space Agency on the launch of the Exomars mission, indicating that the launch of the mission may not take place before 2024.
"The Proton rocket and the Kazachuk platform will be enough to launch the robot in the form of a human in 2024," Rogozin said in a statement to TASS, noting that "Ros Cosmos confirmed this information to the European Space Agency."
Rogozin stressed that launching the mission next year is not possible because the windows for launching missions to Mars open every two years, pointing out that the company may receive a response about the mission on June 20.
The European Space Agency had earlier ruled out the launch of the Exomars mission due to sanctions on Russia, to which Rogozin replied that Russia would launch the mission to Mars independently.
