The Minister of Justice announced at a cabinet meeting his intention to bring a bill to deal with crime.

An attempt to embarrass Netanyahu and the Likud?

Justice Minister Gideon Saar announced this morning (Sunday) at the entrance to the cabinet meeting that he intends to bring within a few days a bill "to deal with serious crime in general and with serious crime in Arab society in particular," which will be part of a series of laws he initiates.

Saar justified the initiative by burning the buses that occurred yesterday in Safed and in other cases of serious crime that occurred recently.

However, political sources who spoke with "Israel Today" estimated that this was also an attempt to "trick" Benjamin Netanyahu and the Likud.

As you may recall, the leaders of the opposition factions announced that they would oppose any government bill.

Saar's proposal will present the Likud with two bad choices: breaking the boycott, or voting against legislation that seeks to increase the punishment for Arab criminals.

It is estimated that the Likud will not break the boycott and will be forced to oppose the law.

Saar noted that in addition to this initiative it promotes a series of laws on crime in the Arab sector.

One of those laws is supposed to expand the search powers of the police, and the law is also noticeably opposed in March - especially by MKs Gabi Lasky and Jida Rinawi Zoabi.

However, the law is currently "stuck" in the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee headed by Gilad Karib, and it is likely that he will use his powers to delay him in order to maintain the coalition's stability.

According to estimates, RAAM will find it difficult to support a bill that seeks to aggravate the punishment and is aimed, according to Saar, at "Arab society in particular." The search powers of the police, and the law are also noticeably opposed in March - especially by MKs Gabi Lasky and Jida Rinawi Zoabi.

It was recently reported in several media outlets that New and Right Hope intends to run together in the next election.

According to the coalition agreement, if the government is overthrown by members of Ra'am or Meretz - who belong to the Lapid bloc - Bennett will continue to serve as prime minister. In addition, the Likud is expected to oppose these proposals, as part of the sweeping boycott Saar will also succeed in embarrassing Netanyahu.
