The children of the Russian community in Aleppo governorate celebrated today the National Day of the Russian Federation, with the participation of the delegation of the Russian Embassy in Damascus headed by the Russian Consul, Ruslan Markov, and the presence of a number of stakeholders in the Aleppo Governorate.
During the celebration, at the New Al-Shahba symposium, various paragraphs of Russian national anthems and songs from Russian folklore were presented by a number of children from the community.
In a speech during the ceremony, Markov indicated that the celebration of Russia's National Day is a pride for the country's victories over Nazism and for the achievements of the Russian people in various military, industrial, technological, educational and cultural fields.
Markov stressed the importance of historical relations between Russia and Syria and the need to work to strengthen them in various fields through the continuation of trade, economic and military cooperation and the implementation of projects concerned with reconstruction and infrastructure, considering that Syria constitutes an old strategic ally and supporter of Russia.
Markov thanked the political leadership and the Syrian government for the humanitarian services and facilities it provides to the Russian community in Aleppo, noting the return of the pulse of life to this beautiful city.
In turn, a member of the Executive Office of the Aleppo Provincial Council, Eng. Zikra Hajjar, drew attention to the deep-rooted relations that bind the two friendly peoples in Russia and Syria, stressing that they stand in one trench to fight terrorism in Syria and against neo-Nazis in Ukraine, noting the continued cooperation between Syrian and Russian cities in various economic, social and cultural fields.
A number of members of the Russian community in Aleppo confirmed to SANA reporter their pride in their culture and their mother tongue, and this blended with the social and cultural life and traditions they were accustomed to in the city of Aleppo.
