Voting began in France this morning for the first round of the legislative elections, which French President Emmanuel Macron is counting on to achieve an overwhelming majority.
According to Agence France-Presse, the French will choose in this ballot all the 577 members of the National Assembly "Parliament", which will take place in two sessions, and the second session will be held a week later, on the 19th of June.
The number of French voters is estimated at 48 million.
At the end of his election campaign, Macron called on the French to give him an overwhelming and clear majority in these legislative elections.
Opinion polls show Macron's support for Ma'an, which dominated the elected National Assembly in 2017, and the left-wing electoral alliance led by Jean-Luc Melenchon, tied for voting intentions.
In the first round of the elections, Macron obtained 28.5 percent of the vote, compared to 23.6 percent for Le Pen, while the turnout was 65 percent, lower than what was recorded in 2017, which amounted to 69.4 percent at the time, according to what the French Ministry of the Interior announced.
