On Monday, several climate activists blocked parts of the inner canal street in Cologne.
Two demonstrators stuck to the street.
Cologne – On Monday morning, June 13, traffic on the inner Kanalstraße in Cologne was even more backed up than usual. The reason: climate activists of the self-proclaimed “last generation” stuck to the important traffic axis at the height of the triangle in the direction of the Zoobrücke on the road and thus completely paralyzed commuter traffic at times.

"Around 8 a.m., six people started a sit-in on Inner Kanalstrasse," said a police spokesman when asked by 24RHEIN.
“Two of them got stuck on the road.
Banners against fossil fuels were held up.
They said they belonged to the Last Generation Action Group.”
In Cologne-Ehrenfeld and downtown Cologne, there were also major traffic disruptions due to the sit-in on Monday, as
24RHEIN
reports.
The inner canal road itself was particularly affected. But there were also effects on the A57.
"We had to temporarily divert the traffic before departure," the police spokesman continues.

It was only an hour and a half after the sit-in began - around 9:30 a.m. - that the six people could be led off the street.
To do this, the Cologne fire brigade had to use solvents to detach the two activists who were stuck to the street.
“We have filed a criminal complaint.
The people were released on the spot,” reports the police spokesman.
Traffic was reopened at 9:40 a.m., but backlogs are still possible on Monday morning.
