Hall operator terminates contract for AfD state party conference

Almost three weeks before the planned party conference of the Südwest-AfD in Stuttgart's Carl-Benz-Arena, the hall operator has now given the party a basket.

The police have said that a ban mile, several hundred officers and water cannons are needed to secure the party conference, said Sascha Penna, operator of the Carl Benz Arena, on Monday of the German Press Agency.

Stuttgart – The reason for this is, among other things, that concerts by the Fantastischen Vier with up to 100,000 visitors also took place in Neckarpark on the first weekend in July.

In addition, the police expect that the left-wing scene in Bad Cannstatt wants to disrupt the party congress.

"We cannot be held responsible for personal injury and property damage," said Penna.

The AfD criticized the cancellation and wants to take legal action against it.

“The termination is completely unjustified.

A danger to security does not come from the AfD, but at most from violent left-wing extremists," said party spokesman and vice-president Markus Frohnmaier of the dpa.

"If a legal and democratic party like the AfD can no longer hold party conferences due to such a threat, we have reached a pre-democratic state.

We will never accept that and will therefore sue the dismissal in court.”

The right-wing populists often have to struggle with the fact that the party's operators do not want to provide event rooms.

800 to 1000 delegates and visitors were expected for the state party conference on July 2nd and 3rd.

The state presidency is also to be redetermined there after the parliamentary group leader Alice Weidel announced her withdrawal.
