Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko called for strengthening economic relations with Russia to confront the increasing Western sanctions against the two countries, stressing at the same time the need to enhance the country's security in light of the expansion of hybrid warfare methods in the world.
"The situation around Belarus, especially in the economic sphere, requires extraordinary measures," Lukashenko was quoted as saying by the state-run Belta Agency, noting the importance of working in the Russian market as Russia is Belarus' main partner.
"All energies must be mobilized and saved in order to work effectively heading east, but without forgetting about other markets," Lukashenko said.
The President of Belarus stressed the need to expand the tasks of the State Security Committee in the country in view of the expansion of hybrid warfare methods in the world and said: “It is necessary to develop information security tasks in the country.”
