The fact that they met a man on a quad in Greiling late in the evening shortly before Christmas made the police suspicious.

The driver has now been sentenced to prison.

Reichersbeuern/Wolfratshausen

– A 27-year-old from Reichersbeuern has already been convicted eight times for driving without a license.

Still, the man couldn't stop himself.

Now the police caught him again when he was driving a quad that required a driver's license.

The receipt: six months in prison without parole.

From the courtroom we went straight to Stadelheim.

Police officers want to stop a man on a quad, but he drives on

"Strange overall circumstances" had two police officers take a closer look one day before Christmas Eve last year when the accused met them around 11:45 p.m. on their patrol in Greiling.

"A quad, at the time, at the temperatures - that was strange," an officer explained at the hearing why they had followed the vehicle.

Despite the flashing lights and siren, the driver did not stop, but drove on federal highway 472 and then turned onto a dirt road.

"It was clear he wanted to withdraw," said the witness.

After asking the owner, it was clear to him why: the man had been caught several times without a driver's license.

The quad driver had escaped them briefly that night.

However, the man could then be arrested at his place of work.

"That's right," said the defendant.

"I had to go to work." He couldn't give the court any other explanation.

Driven again and again without a license: imprisonment for Reichersbeurer

In the course of the hearing of witnesses, it turned out that further proceedings against the accused are already being processed.

In March 2022 he was caught again – with a scooter that requires a driver's license, the police officer reported.

“Sometimes it is indescribable: in the summer he is sentenced to nine months.

The appeal is dismissed in November.

Two months later he's driving again," judge Helmut Berger explained in his verdict after he had sentenced the Reichersbeurer to six months in prison.

The prosecutor had requested a year.

"What can I say?

Preferably nothing at all: he is completely unteachable.”

Away from the courtroom leads directly to Stadelheim

Although the verdict is not yet final, the judge had the man taken into custody by the constables in the courtroom until the police arrived to take him to Stadelheim Correctional Facility.

The reason was an arrest warrant that the defendant either did not know about or which he had ignored.
