Earlier this week, the daughter of Deputy Mayor of Shefar'am, Johara Hanifas, was killed in a car explosion, in an incident suspected of being assassinated.
The 28-year-old Hanifs has previously spoken out against violence in Arab society, and has served as a prominent activist in the city on the issue of promoting the status of women.
Her father, Deputy Mayor Faraj Hanfis, said he did not know if anyone had tried to harm him, adding: "I heard about the incident from the police, she was a flower - all her life she was on appeal."
