The Ministry of Interior inaugurated the Immigration and Passports Department building in Al-Zablatani, Damascus. It consists of five floors and has 125 service gates for citizens to obtain the required services, in addition to a new section for issuing passports.
Interior Minister Major General Muhammad al-Rahmoun said in a press statement during the opening: The opening of the new Immigration and Passports Department building comes within the framework of the Ministry of Interior's keenness to provide facilities to citizens, simplify procedures and obtain the best services in the easiest and easiest way.
Major General Al-Rahmoun indicated that the last period witnessed a weakness in the supplies needed for work, but it has now doubled, and the ministry continues to work until the congestion on the passport ends, explaining that the Ministry of Interior has pursued weak-minded people and brokers, as dozens of people who defrauded citizens were arrested, and the fake pages that practiced were closed. Defrauding citizens and arresting their owners, as well as following up workers in the immigration and passports branches in the governorates, and taking legal measures against the offenders and those involved, as 32 of them were arrested and transferred outside immigration and passport salaries, including branch heads.
Al-Rahmoun confirmed that the passport is available and the immigration branches will continue to work late hours to issue passports, indicating that the period given on the role platform for the passport will automatically decrease and there will be no delay and the issue of the role on the platform will be addressed within a few months, calling on citizens not to submit to blackmail and brokers.
The Minister of Interior pointed out that the suffering of the delay in issuing passports abroad has been avoided, as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has been provided with a sufficient number of passports, and it will not be a problem in granting passports to residents outside the country in Syrian embassies.
In turn, the Governor of Damascus, Engineer Adel Al-Olabi, announced that the opening of the building today relieves pressure on the city and rural branches and facilitates the provision of services to citizens, indicating that the governorate is ready to provide all the necessary facilities and all forms of support required to upgrade the level of services.
For his part, Director of the Immigration and Passports Department, Major General Khaled Hadid, stated that the Immigration and Passports Department building has been provided with new cadres and the appropriate numbers, and is equipped with all technical and administrative services.
Hadid pointed out that the building is equipped with forty gates, in addition to the civil affairs gate and four gates to the Commercial Bank, where the documents needed by the citizen are photocopied on each floor, indicating that passports will be issued at the Immigration and Passports Department.
