There was a lot to see at the medieval market in Altenstadt, such as a sword fight.

Nevertheless, the organizers cannot draw a completely positive balance.

The medieval market in Altenstadt delights visitors again and again.

This time, however, there were a number of frustrating incidents at the expense of the organizers.

Altenstadt – The events at the medieval market in Altenstadt certainly have a criminal character: a “visitor” had paid for his entry at the cash register with a counterfeit 200 euro note and had the change given to him.

Only when organizer Wolfgang Funk brought the daily takings to the bank and sent them in for a laboratory test did it become clear: this 200 euro note was a fake.

However, to the chagrin of the organizers, there were other sad "fringe events".

"Frustrating," says Monika Seltmann from the organization.

There have often been complaints about the admission prices.

Nine euros is too much, so the tenor.

These visitors were given a detailed explanation of what the entrance fees would be used for.

The jugglers, musicians, the snake dancer and the puppeteers have to be paid from this.

The toilet facilities, which are free for visitors, the parking spaces, straw and firewood also cost money.

However, insight was limited.

According to Monika Seltmann, older visitors mainly looked for loopholes in the fence and often found them.

Caught in the process, the excuse came: You just wanted to take a quick look.

They steadfastly refused to pay the entrance fee at least afterwards.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Schongau newsletter.)

Even that wasn't enough - there was more trouble.

Inexplicably, invalid food and drink stamps have appeared en masse.

"Not insignificant damage," scolded Wolfgang Funk.

Likewise, not a few beer mugs were lost.

The “crowning” conclusion of the medieval festival: The large, handcrafted fire bowl that was left there to cool down was simply stolen.

"There must have been two very strong people at work because the shell was very large and, above all, very heavy," says Margit Gauder from the organization team, annoyed.

“Perhaps these “marginal phenomena” will at least make one or the other visitor think, hopes Wolfgang Funk.
