Under the auspices of chaos: Landers in Israel are forced to sleep in a field Israel today

The lack of control over the transportation system at Ben Gurion Airport leads to hours of waiting • "No one knows what is happening with the drivers or what they are doing"

Huge queues, hours of waiting and people looking for a place to sleep.

What happens to the shuttle system at Ben Gurion Airport? Passengers who arrived at Ben-Gurion Airport last Friday had to wait long hours until they found a taxi to leave. And went to sleep there.

A few weeks ago we revealed here the fact that even though the skies opened, the Ministry of Transport did not bother to operate the trains at night and on weekends, so passengers are forced to ask their relatives to pick them up from the airport, or alternatively - pay unusually high amounts for taxis.

Thus, for example, hundreds of passengers who landed in Israel last Friday had to wait a long time, after the taxis that were supposed to pick them up did not arrive.

According to senior officials close to the issue, the reason is that at present, the issue of taxis at Ben Gurion Airport is unregulated.

Bad experience for tourists

In the past, the issue of taxis was regulated, and there were companies that worked at Ben Gurion Airport with special permits. To do this and pick up passengers, this basically creates situations where there is no coordination between the number of passengers and the number of taxis waiting for the landers.

Landing in Israel are trying to find a solution, such as ordering a taxi for a certain hour even before takeoff to Israel.

The problem with this method is the fact that due to the congestion at Ben Gurion Airport, many passengers wait quite a bit of time for luggage and do not know exactly when they will leave the place, which further complicates the process, both for the passenger and the drivers.

As a result, a situation has arisen where passengers who land during hours when there is no public transport may find themselves without a solution to get to their homes or the hotels they have booked.

This includes, of course, foreign tourists, whose first experience in Israel is severely damaged and occurs immediately after landing.

Meanwhile, sources involved in the matter told "Israel Today" about several sting cases of taxi drivers in recent weeks, in amounts that even reached thousands of shekels.

"When there is no supervision - there is no supervision. No one knows who the drivers who enter Ben Gurion Airport are, and no one knows what they are doing," the sources said.

The Ministry of Transportation stated: "The ministry is working to publish a new tender that will regulate the taxi sector at Ben Gurion Airport, and is currently examining the possibility of operating night trains to and from the field."
