The G7 summit at Schloss Elmau met with a lot of criticism.

Some opponents show their displeasure by daubing slogans on bridge piers and fences.

The police are investigating.

Farchant – The message is clear: opponents of the G7 summit have expressed their anger with slogans such as “Move the G7”, “Scholz push” and “No G7”.

For days, the graffiti in white and red paint has been emblazoned on noise barriers and bridge pillars in Farchant (Garmisch-Partenkirchen district).

The graffiti are an obvious criticism of the coming together of the seven major industrial nations in Bavaria.

The preparations for the G7 summit, which will take place from June 26 to 28, 2022 at Schloss Elmau, have been in full swing for weeks.

But it's not just the police and security forces who are already at attention - the dissenting voices are also getting louder and louder just before the meeting begins.

The G7 critics accuse the economic powerhouses of Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, the USA, Canada and Japan of taking exclusive decisions to the detriment of poorer countries when they meet.

For this reason, the “Stop-G7-Elmau” action alliance is planning numerous demonstrations and protests against the G7 summit.

For some G7 opponents, however, that doesn't go far enough: they try their hand at vandalism.

At the beginning of June, large-scale graffiti with writings against the summit meeting appeared in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen area.

Overall, this resulted in property damage of 12,000 euros.

However, there is still no evidence of a perpetrator.

"Investigations are ongoing," says a spokeswoman for the police inspection in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

By the way, the lettering is no longer visible to the public.

"A foil is currently hanging over it," confirms the police spokeswoman.

In the long term, the graffiti, which are "nothing unusual" in themselves, are to be painted over.
