With the aim of motivating them to read and making the book a friend to them since childhood, the Life Skills Team in the Directorate of Culture of Homs, in cooperation with Dar Al Rabee, organized a reading session
And a dialogue with the children in the corner of the Zenobia Library, in the presence of a group of people interested in cultural affairs.
The session, which targeted children from 6 to 12 years old, was moderated by the childhood poet and children’s songwriter Burhan Shaleel, who read to the children a number of his poems after telling them his personal experience in reading, which began with his friendship with the book since his childhood and continued over seventy fruitful years, hundreds of songs, stories and writings about childhood And planting in the hearts of children the values of goodness, beauty and respect for others.
The session included a reading of a number of children's stories, including stories about environmental friendliness and the preservation of our natural wealth of trees and plants in order to develop their aesthetic and moral sense.
In an interview with SANA, Shaleel explained the importance of the session in teaching children to love reading and being attached to it, and to get them out of the sadness and destruction that their city was subjected to as a result of the war, to an atmosphere of joy and optimism about the future, which they are the first building block.
In turn, Saba Wassouf, director of the life skills team in the Homs Culture Directorate, explained that the aim of the event, which targeted children, including a group from the temporary residence center in Deir Baalba, is to encourage reading. To include rural and city children.
Sawsan Khabbaz, Director of Zenobia Library, which provided story gifts to children, noted the importance of the event, which motivates children to read on the one hand and spreads culture in society on the other.
The event concluded with a drawing workshop in the children's hall, where the children expressed in their drawings the meanings of childhood, which symbolize joy and optimism for a promising future.
