Great weather prevailed at the "Berg-Revival" with 84 vintage cars at Forster Berg.

The successful premiere will be followed by a sequel next year.

Wessobrunn/Forst

– Many sports are based on the motto “Faster, higher, further”.

This also applies to motorsport, but not to all events.

At the "Mountain Revival" in Wessobrunn/Forst, speed was not the priority, but consistency.

When returning to the Forster Berg after around 50 years as the scene of a mountain race, the aim was not to leave the winding route behind as quickly as possible, but rather to set the same time to the hundredth of a second in all three runs.

84 historic vehicles took part in this so-called regularity test (GLP), which had been around for many decades, but which are lovingly cared for and cherished by their owners in order to be driven and presented at such events or classic car meetings.

Vehicles divided into three groups

"For me it's about meeting like-minded people and exchanging ideas with them," said Axel Kühn, explaining his motivation for starting in Forst with his fiery red De Tomaso.

With his high-horsepower oldie, the Munich driver belonged to the first of three groups into which organizer Johannes Dornhofer classified the participants.

The group of one consisted mainly of vehicles of Italian origin.

In the twos, there were mainly Porsches of various years of construction.

Group three consisted of the oldest cars from the pre-war period.

Checking was allowed.

This included Kurt Guffanti's Ford Special from 1928. "It can reach a top speed of 140 km/h," reported the Weilheimer, who does not necessarily exhaust this maximum speed with his open-top oldie.

"You can drive 100 km/h for a long time without any problems," said Guffanti, who cheerfully answered the many questions from the visitors about his vehicle in the paddock.

The next mountain revival is already planned

The meeting point for the vehicles at the Wessobrunn multi-purpose hall before they set off at the foot of the Forster Berg near Schönwag was well attended throughout the day, which was not surprising given the fantastic weather.

"We were really lucky with the weather," beamed Dornhofer, competing against the blue-white sky.

He also had nothing to complain about during the course of the race.

"There were no problems from the briefing in the morning with the district office and the police about the course of the race and the schedule to the last start," said Dornhofer, who also supported the farmers, who made their meadows available for parking spaces, and the fire brigades Forst and Wessobrunn, who were on duty as marshals and at the parking lots, praised them.

There was a separate area in the paddock for Porsches.

In the catering area on the asphalt square in front of the multi-purpose hall, the kindergarten sponsorship association sold cakes to visitors and participants, who were also able to fortify themselves at other stands and then sit together comfortably under pavilions.

"I received positive feedback from everyone," Dornhofer summed up after the successful premiere of the "regularity test".

A sequel in 2023 is already certain: "But then it will be more of an appointment in autumn."
