The monologue is a type of theater art and has several classifications, including the drama of the internal dialogue with the character and the lyrical through the singing of the taptuqa, where the monologue is composed and distributed as an integrated operetta.
His experience in the field of critical monologue art was talked about by the artist Muhammad Khair Al-Kilani during a lecture called by the Association of University Graduates in Homs, defining the critical monologue as the song critical of a situation in society. Waheed plays all the characters in a funny and humorous manner, explaining that the monologue performer is called a “monologue.”
Al-Kilani pointed out that the monologues Salama Al-Agwani and Hassan Wahish appeared in Syria, and perhaps the most important of them is the artist of the people, Rafiq Subai’i, who was famous for his critical songs. In Homs, Al-Kilani spoke about his experience in the art of critical monologues more than fifty years ago.
Al-Kilani explained that although those who presented the monologue did not enjoy a good voice, they succeeded in achieving public acceptance due to their high sense of music and their ability to perform melodies and maqam sentences with high accuracy.
The lecture included a number of monologues, with the participation of the Dohat Mimas Club for Music and Arts.
