You want to know what those are?

Bonn – When you hear about endangered animal species, many people immediately think of exotic animals such as black rhino, mountain gorilla or Sumatran tiger.

But the extinction of species is much closer than expected and does not stop at Germany.

According to the Red List, around a third of mammals are endangered and seven percent are considered critically endangered.

Insects and plants are also affected.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature IUCN, based in Switzerland, compiles and updates the international Red List at regular intervals.

This list is intended to provide an overview and help to save biodiversity and encourage people to trade.

Because the biological diversity of animals, plants and microorganisms forms the basis of all life.

There is also such a red list for Germany - this is drawn up by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN).

But there are also red lists that each federal state creates for itself.

The classification takes place in different categories.

Some species are endangered, some are critically endangered.

According to the Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland eV, more than 7,000 animal species are endangered or threatened with extinction in Germany.

We can only show you a small but very interesting selection.
