People's Assembly Speaker Hammouda Sabbagh affirmed that Syrian-Russian parliamentary relations are progressing at high rates and that there is permanent coordination in the parliamentary field between the two friendly countries in all regional and international forums.
During his meeting today with the head of the Russian side in the Syrian-Russian Parliamentary Friendship Committee Dmitry Sablin, Donetsk Minister of Foreign Affairs Natalia Nikonorova and the accompanying delegation, Sabbagh referred to the strength and solidity of the relations linking Syria to both the Russian Federation and the Donetsk People's Republic.
The President of the Council reiterated Syria's full support for the Russian Federation in its special military operation in Ukraine, which aims to preserve its national security and protect the Russian people, expressing full confidence that victory will be an ally of the free and honorable peoples.
Sabbagh also expressed openness to cooperate with parliamentary committees in the Donetsk Republic and to exchange bilateral visits as required by the work of each committee, after taking the relevant executive steps.
For his part, Sablin stressed that the objectives of the special military operation in Ukraine will be achieved regardless of the size of the support and the number of mercenaries and military trainers they bring to Ukraine, noting the solidarity of Syria's leadership and people with the right of peoples to build their future without any external interference.
In turn, a member of the People's Assembly of the Donetsk People's Republic, Sergei Prokopenko, stressed the importance of establishing economic, cultural and parliamentary relations with Syria in the interest of the two friendly countries and peoples, calling for cooperation between the parliamentary friendship committees on both sides.
In a statement to reporters after the meeting, Sablin indicated that this visit comes on the sidelines of the fourth Syrian-Russian joint meeting held to follow up on the international conference on the return of Syrian refugees and displaced persons, adding: “We are on the way to establishing a just world order, and every meeting between us and cooperation is a new link in the chain of events leading to This system".
For her part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk Republic affirmed that relations with Syria will be developed and strengthened to enter a new phase of friendship and cooperation, expressing her confidence that the objectives of the Russian military operation in Ukraine will be achieved soon.
The meeting was attended by a number of members of the People's Assembly.
