"We will not forget the fighter on all fours, who gave his own life to locate missing persons and save lives in Israel."

Streicher said, adding, "The devoted practice, David Abdi, received the dog, after being abused about two and a half years ago, and was tied to him in heart and soul. The dog was buried in the field in a short and moving ceremony."

A spokesman for the unit added, noting "the supreme sacrifice of the dog-volunteers, as of the dogs. We salute them."

Yesterday, the body of Sapir Nahum, who disappeared 12 days ago, was identified.

The body was identified at the end of a lengthy identification procedure of the body, which was held at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Abu Kabir yesterday, after it was found near the town of Ivtin in the north.

Meanwhile, the court extended by eight days the detention of Walla Jamal Rubin Khalaila, 34, Sapir Nahum's ex-partner, until next Tuesday.

His brother, Alaa Khalaila, was also arrested on suspicion of involvement in the act, and his detention was extended this week, until next Sunday.
