It was not surprising to us in the Arab region and perhaps in many countries of the world that the commission of inquiry mandated by the United Nations Human Rights Council reached a fact that we know very well that the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and racial discrimination against the Palestinians are the “root causes” of the recurrent tensions, instability and prolongation of the conflict. in the region.
The occupation entity that Britain planted in Palestine with its ominous promise a hundred years ago, and sponsored and supported by Washington to be its upper hand in our region, occupies the Arab land in Palestine, the Golan and southern Lebanon, and displaced millions of the Palestinian people, and besieges those who remain in the Gaza Strip, which turned it into the largest prison in the world, stealing Palestinian lands in the West Bank on a daily basis, practicing racial discrimination against them and killing women and children, all of this we know and memorize by heart.
Despite the importance of the report of the Commission of Inquiry mandated by the Human Rights Council to investigate human rights violations committed in the occupied Palestinian territories since April 2021 headed by former High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay, which was issued a few days ago and stressed that “ending the Israeli occupation in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions is necessary to end the cycle of Ongoing violence” in the region, but what next?
Will anything change?
Everyone knows from the United Nations to the Human Rights Council and all international organizations that the Israeli occupation authorities refused from the outset to cooperate with or recognize the committee in the first place, and considered the report biased, misleading and incompetent because of its hatred for “Israel.” This is the case for all decisions that criticize the occupation entity, whether Those related to the apartheid wall, the settlements, or the occupation itself of the Palestinian territories and the Syrian Golan.
We know everything the report mentioned and the world knows it well, but what next?
Who is holding this usurping occupying entity accountable?
Which international body is able to put an end to his crimes against the Palestinians and against the Syrians, and where is the Security Council from the repeated Israeli attacks against Syria and its people?
Palestine is not Ukraine for the United States and Europe to mobilize forces to stand up to the Israeli occupation, not even the implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions that I participated in drafting and adopting, and the Palestinian people who have been suffering from the crimes of the Israeli occupation for decades do not affect the Western human conscience.
It has become imperative for the countries and peoples of the region to confront by themselves the Israeli occupier, which increases its arrogance and aggression on a daily basis, usurps land and rights, assaults Syria and steals Lebanon’s wealth at sea. More than a few years of chaos and terrorism that struck the countries and peoples of the region.
And because the reports and resolutions of the United Nations will not be worth the ink with which they were written unless our peoples and states have the power that enables them to extract their usurped rights, we must prepare for what is to come.
