Damascus-SANA

An interactive critical symposium was held in the lecture hall of the Arab Writers Union on the novel “The Lost Planets of Paradise” by the writer Muhammad Al-Hafri, in which a group of writers and critics participated.

Al-Hafri explained in a statement to SANA that the novel deals with social corruption, customs, traditions and psychological aspects of a person through a love relationship that one of the able-bodied tries to stand in its way and put obstacles in the hero's path and use his financial power that he obtained illegally to nullify that relationship.

Al-Hafri pointed out that one of the goals of the work is to expose the owners of suspicious wealth collected through trafficking and theft of the country's antiquities, and one of its goals is to highlight the country's tangible and immaterial heritage, in addition to entertaining the reader with a rural love story that mixed the real and the imaginary.

Dr. Adab Abdel-Hadi also pointed out the importance of the novel, which appears to the reader from realistic literature, but belongs to fictional and psychological literature, pointing out that the novelist entered his novel without introductions or preparation to put the reader in its atmosphere away from the traditional methods of writing the novel.

Critic Qusai Attia explained that this novel is similar to a biography in which the writer expresses the summary of his experience in life and that lost paradise, which is the female in whose eyes all eyes have disappeared, so she is associated with the memory of the heroic lover. It is a dense novel rich in meanings, connotations and radiation.

Dr. Jamal Abu Samra, head of the Quneitra branch of the Arab Writers Union, pointed out that the event is part of a series of symposia to highlight the literary works of Syrian writers who have won many distinguished prizes by virtue of their high artistic and creative work, and this is part of the union’s mission.
