In two days, four elderly people died after swimming in the sea. On Tuesday, a 61-year-old died in Cannes and another 84-year-old died in Vallauris.
On Wednesday, a first death, that of a septuagenarian, was noted in the morning and a second occurred in Menton, where the victim was 78 years old.
Most were rescued but could not be revived.

Each time, the deaths are due to cardiovascular accidents
,” the departmental rescue service (SDIS) told AFP.

", specified the SDIS, also recalling that at the start of the summer season, all the beaches are not yet supervised.
Consequently, the prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes, Bernard Gonzalez, called on Wednesday in a press release for "
the greatest vigilance of all, more particularly the elderly, frail and parents of young children
", and this "
with the summer heat of the last days and the announcement of those to come
".
