“Several students were transported by ambulance to the hospital for observation and treatment, as needed,” school district superintendent Dr. Gina Talbert told our sister network NBC News' New York affiliate.

"We recognize that this is a very frightening event witnessed by our students, staff and families and we are deeply shocked by how it came to pass," he added.

The children went to Wyandanch Park and jumped on the inflatables as part of a school field trip, police said.
