It's almost like midsummer at Kirchsee.

But the other bathing lakes in the district also invite you to cool off.

Their water quality is not objectionable.

Nothing stands in the way of a refreshment in the coming days, because the lakes in the district are not objectionable.

Some have already dared to jump into the water.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen – The hot weather announced for the coming days invites you to go swimming.

And what could be nicer than swimming a few lengths in glorious summer weather and bright sunshine, or daring a dip in the cool water?

So that the citizens of the district can bathe without worries, samples are taken regularly from the waters in the district.

EU bathing areas in the district in recent years excellent water quality

The current bathing water report of the European Union (EU) describes all EU bathing areas in the district as "bacteriologically unobjectionable".

The five EU bathing areas include the west bank of the Bibisee in Königsdorf, the bathing area at the Wasserwachthütte on Sylvensteinsee, the Kirchsee in Sachsenkam in the area of the jetty, the west bank of Walchensee and the bathing area in Münsing on Lake Starnberg.

All five bathing lakes have been certified as “excellent bathing water quality” over the past three years.

Bathing waters are sampled regularly

"In general, the EU bathing waters in the district are sampled once a month from May 15th to September 15th according to a fixed scheme," explains Marlis Peischer, spokeswoman for the district office, when asked.

A pre-season rehearsal will take place at the beginning of May.

"The samples are examined for germs that occur in human and animal excrement and can thus provide an indication of fecal contamination," says Peischer.

As part of the site inspection, the overall impression of the body of water is assessed and any contamination caused by driftwood, surfactants, i.e. foam formation, or oil entry is determined.

There is a bathing ban at these ponds

According to the spokeswoman for the district office, after longer periods of heat, more attention is paid to the occurrence of blue-green algae.

They are potentially harmful.

As in previous years, there is a bathing ban in four ponds in the district.

This applies to the ponds in Degerndorf and at the Hochland youth settlement in Königsdorf as well as the Lenggrieser Baggerweiher at Trattenbach and at the Bretonenbrücke.

Bibisee warmest - Walchensee coldest

The measurement data published by the district office on its website show that the temperatures of the waters have risen significantly since the beginning of May.

The last measurements from May 23 showed that Lake Bibi is currently the warmest at 21.6 degrees.

Immediately behind is the Kirchsee with 21.3 degrees.

The temperatures of the Sylvensteinsee and the Starnberger See at the bathing place in Münsing are between 18 and 19 degrees.

The Walchensee is the coldest at almost 16 degrees.

Kirchsee: Almost like midsummer

Nevertheless, many have already plunged into the floods during the warm weather of the past few weeks.

"We were already very busy," says Birgit Oberhuber, who runs Café Maikiki am Kirchsee.

"Almost like midsummer," she enthuses.

"The lake is pleasantly warm and there are no mosquitoes yet." Right now everyone is enjoying the fact that there are no longer any corona restrictions.

Oberhuber reveals: "The parking machines are currently missing because they were broken in the winter.

That's why you can currently park for free at Kirchsee." She recommends with a wink: "Instead of paying parking fees, it's better to have a coffee."

Water rats are drawn into the cool water

The camping guests of Sepp Demmel, operator of the campsite at Stallauer Weiher, are also drawn to the cool water.

"It pushes people out," observes Demmel.

"And the water isn't cold because the sun shines on it all day."

“Everyone wants to get into the water earlier than usual”

Likewise, some water rats dared in the Sylvenstein and Walchensee.

"Sometimes there are already a few people in the water," says Korbinian Landthaler from the Lenggries water rescue service.

"But there isn't much going on yet, because the water is still very cold." There was already "a lot going on" at Lake Walchensee, observed Lisa Grünwald from the local water rescue service.

"I have the impression that everyone wants to go into the water earlier than usual." Bathers like to stop by the Viking village and at the end of Walchensee Bay in particular.
