Danger of injury: Due to damage to the border, the fountain on Neuer Platz is currently not bubbling - much to the chagrin of the children in the district.

On these sunny days, children would love to refresh themselves in the fountain on Neuer Platz.
However, there is low tide again this year.
There's a crack in the concrete.
Geretsried – While the water in the artificial stream on Karl-Lederer-Platz ripples merrily, the fountain on Neuer Platz is low tide.
For safety reasons, the city does not turn on the water - the border is defective.
Geretsried: Fountain at Neuer Platz is broken again
A large crack runs through one of the two half concrete rings.
The damage was probably caused by frost, says Thomas Loibl, spokesman for the city of Geretsried, when asked by our newspaper.
In the past few weeks, employees of the building yard have tried several times to temporarily repair the crack.
But none of that was sustainable enough.
"It doesn't hold up the way we want it to," says the town hall employee.
In theory, the fountain could be put into operation – which would make the district's youngest residents particularly happy.
But the temptation to climb over the border is great - and there is also a risk of injury.
The city doesn't want to take that risk.
According to the spokesman, the fountain should be repaired as soon as possible.
For this reason, the building authority approached the manufacturer and asked for an offer.
"But we're still waiting for that," reports Loibl.
Fountain at Neuer Platz was installed eight years ago
The fountain at Neuer Platz in Geretsried is prone to failure.
About three years ago, no water was bubbling up because the pump system was defective (we reported).
The water feature was installed about eight years ago as part of the conversion work to upgrade the square.
The measure cost a total of 1.6 million euros.
