This is not for the faint of heart.

A gondola in Tyrol suddenly stands still.

Nothing works anymore.

Then, at an altitude of 1,100 meters, a dramatic rescue operation begins.

Zams - This mountain tour in Tyrol (Austria) will probably remain unforgettable for almost 50 people.

17 people had to be evacuated from a gondola of the Venetbahn aerial tramway.

Suddenly a gondola is stuck – at 1,130 meters.

A mission at dizzy heights.

Austria: Gondola is stuck on the mountain at 1,100 meters

At 2 p.m. on Sunday, the code "LIFT-STILL - SOS" was issued and the Landeck mountain rescue service said it was alerted.

17 people including the driver were stuck in a gondola.

The cause of the gondola breakdown is initially unclear.

According to the Tyrolean police, the Venetbahn aerial tramway had "an electronic defect that could not previously be defined."

Dramatic rescue operation in Austria - 15 people evacuated from the gondola

Mountain rescuers had to evacuate people aged 12 to 71 from the gondola going up the mountain.

With the support of the flight police, mountain rescuers climbed onto the suspension cable via a nearby support and abseiled down to the gondola, police said.

The passengers and the driver were roped down about 35 meters, then the mountain rescuers led them to a forest road 30 meters above them using a safety rope.

There, the rescued were cared for by paramedics and then brought down to the valley by the fire brigade.

All persons remained unharmed, it is said.

The salvage was completed at 6:45 p.m.

Another 20 passengers were also stuck in the gondola going down the valley.

However, since the car was in the immediate vicinity of the middle station, everyone was able to leave the gondola unharmed.

The Venet cable car is out of service on Tuesday "because of a technical problem!", as can be read on the Venet cable car website.

As a replacement, however, the DSB Venet Süd - a double chairlift - runs from 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A fiasco on a hiking tour in Austria recently made headlines: 99 students and eight teachers had to be rescued from mountain distress.

The teachers from Germany had chosen a hiking route on the Internet.

Not a good idea, as it turned out.
