District - herb wastl Sebastian Viellechner from Weyarn has published a new book.

It is characterized by appreciation for the forest.

Herb educator Sebastian Viellechner - better known to many as herb wastl - sheds light on the relationship between forest and people in his new book.

In an interview, the Weyarner explains the healing powers of trees and why you should be more careful with them.

Mr. Viellechner, your book “Dr.

Forest and his woodworker” is subtitled “People & forest – a strong connection”.

What does that mean?

What makes this strong connection?

Our quality of life comes from nature.

The connection between man and forest strengthens personality and health.

The resulting joie de vivre obliges us to protect the forest.

We should give something back to the forest, not just take it.

The feeling for the elemental power of the forest leads to healing in the mental area and to the avoidance of diseases.

I wrote my book for sensitive people who seek and find help in the forest, also to remove doubts.

The forest gives us relaxation and freshness.

It is a source of energy for physical and mental activities.

Many people are fascinated by the forest, courses for forest bathing, for example, are very popular.

Where do you think this fascination comes from?

What makes the forest so special for people?

The forest bathing courses came about out of a sense of helplessness because we had strayed too far from nature.

It is a phenomenon of the times that will change again.

Due to the ongoing exploitation of the forest and a lack of knowledge, there is a lack of education on how to deal with the forces of nature.

For example, if you breathe consciously and correctly in the forest and can thus scientifically prevent diseases, you do not need any additional instructions or animations.

It's about getting healthy, slowing down, and thus embracing the forest as your best contributor to stress relief.

You yourself grew up near the forest.

How did that shape you as a person?

What influence does the forest have on us humans?

Do trees also affect people's character, for example do they make you humble?

My Bavarian homeland is inextricably linked to the forest.

Being so close to the forest has given me a great respect for nature and the forest ever since I was a child.

Staying in the forest inspires me to sing and be happy.

But I also want to understand the connections.

I am a constant seeker.

And by passing on information, I would like to contribute to not destroying the forest, but accepting it as a spiritual roof under which we experience security and growing sensitivity.

The trees affect those present, seekers and the working woodcutter equally.

They stimulate thought and contemplation.

Protecting the products of the forest creates an enduring respect for this marvel.

Corona also plays a role in your book.

On the one hand, it has been proven that forest air is good for people.

On the other hand, Corona caused a real rush to mountains and forests because many people only wanted to go out into nature during the lockdown.

How do you see this conflict?

Can the forest handle this onslaught?

How can both be reconciled - the positive effect of the forest on people and the rush that also affects the forest?

Every breath is not only a blessing, but also a prevention against clouding of the soul.

It is the forest air that sets us free, not the city air.

The conflict is a sign of our society's disregard for nature.

Profit-oriented companies in the classic tourist destinations have not recognized the need to protect the forest.

Harmony between people and nature can only be achieved if the flow of visitors is skilfully directed.

Information about the protected area of the forest, including the creatures, plants and trees living there, is also important.

Every forest can do more than you give it credit for.

Every forest has its own medicine.

A skilful distribution to all areas must take place in order to relieve the conurbations - not only at the tourism level.

In your book you write with reverence about the forest and what it achieves.

Would you wish that people would be more aware of this achievement and focus more on the essentials?

Many use the forest and the trees as a kind of sports equipment.

Yes, more mindfulness towards the forest is desirable.

I want to demonstrate how easy it is to behave in the forest in order to experience joy and avoid harm.

Whether forester, bird protector or woodcutter - everyone can set a good example.

There are limits to the sports equipment because the forest cannot tolerate too many people.

As a guarantee for healthy air and the best drinking water, confiscation of the forest should be prevented at all costs.

But we also need the media, which can make a specific contribution with honest information so that people understand the value of intact nature.

The municipalities are also responsible, for example, for maintaining the cycle and hiking trails or themed nature tours.

It is also very important to start with school education.

The children must be given the opportunity to experience an informal appreciation for the forest through activities close to nature.

The programs in the forest are better than those on TV or in computer games.

There are also numerous helpful herbs in the forest that you describe in your book.

You yourself are one of the Miesbach herbalists.

Will there be offers again this year?

With regard to the offers, I would like to refer to my colleague Ulla Menke, who does a good job and is in charge of coordinating the planning.
