Gelting/Geretsried - Walter Weiss is the new commander of the Geltinger Wehr.
The 61-year-old is now presenting himself to the Geretsried city council and had two concerns.
The city council had already said goodbye to Andreas Wannek, the former first commander of the Gelting fire brigade.
In the most recent city council meeting in Geretsried, the committee now appointed Walter Weiss, Wannek's successor.
"It would certainly have been better if a younger person had taken over the office," Weiss explained to the city council when the 61-year-old introduced himself.
However, apart from Weiss, no one would have stood for election.
That would also have had something to do with the "major tasks ahead".

For example, according to Weiss, both fire engines have to be replaced due to their age.
The fire station also needs to be renovated.
"That no longer corresponds to the standard," agreed Mayor Michael Müller.
The house would no longer meet the requirements.
Among other things, the vehicle hall is too narrow.
"That should be addressed soon," emphasized Weiss.
Despite the lack of standard and the narrowness, the fire station in Gelting is one of the "most beautiful buildings in Geretsried".
Weiss also offered the councilors a tour.
"We're really making the best of it," he said.
The fire brigade, for example, had already prepared and expanded the upper floor on their own.
Mayor Michael Müller hopes for a "good we"
The new commander will only hold office for four years.
Age is no different.
The former self-employed computer scientist, who has been with the fire department for 43 years, retired five years ago.
Finally, Müller thanked Weiss for his speech and emphasized: "Here's to a good team." Müller indicated that he had already spoken to Weiss personally.
In terms of the said renewals and acquisitions, one is "on the way".
When the time will finally come depends on property negotiations, which will be discussed in a non-public meeting.
