Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed today that the aggression of the Turkish occupation on the Syrian territories will not contribute to the stability of security in Turkey.

"Moscow does not trust that Ankara's operation against the Kurds in northern Syria will contribute to Turkey's stability and security," Peskov was quoted by the Russian TASS news agency as telling reporters.

"We do not believe that this special operation will contribute to the stability and security of the Syrian Arab Republic," Peskov added.

In a statement posted on the ministry's website, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described the recent reports on the Turkish regime's plans against Syria as raising concerns, adding: We hope that Ankara will refrain from actions that may lead to a serious deterioration of the already difficult situation in Syria.

“Security on the Syrian-Turkish border can only be ensured by the deployment of Syrian security forces,” Zakharova added.

An official source in the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reiterated Syria's rejection of the military hostilities launched by the occupying Turkish forces on some areas and villages, pointing out that what the Turkish regime is doing to establish the so-called safe zone is a shameful act of aggression and part of its ethnic and geographical cleansing policy.
