The Ministry of Health today (Wednesday) published rules for the treatment of victims of sexual assault in the health system, reducing the number of staff members treating all stages of treatment and avoiding investigating the details of the incident beyond the needs of treatment.
This, in order to promote in the health system a sensitive discourse for male and female victims, especially after injury.
The Ministry of Health published the Director General's circular with the aim of improving the treatment of casualties and on the one hand preventing harm to casualties and on the other hand preserving the quality of the evidence.

The circular emphasizes that the number of treating staff at all stages of treatment should be reduced and the details of the incident should be avoided beyond what is required.
In tests that include invasive contact and contact with intimate organs, the attending physician must explain to the patient that she is entitled to request that the test be discontinued at any stage, including due to physical or mental discomfort.
It is also written that a patient is entitled to the presence of an attendant and her permission can be requested for additional people to enter the room.
In cases of suspected involvement of drugs, alcohol or medication the doctor should immediately perform a blood and urine test.
In addition, the ministry also clarifies the duty of medical staff to report treatment and stipulates that doctors must notify the police of any patient who arrives for treatment after undergoing sexual assault.
However, an injured party should not be required to complain to the police, or to be required to file a complaint.

The contract also details the procedure for preserving rape examination kits, in accordance with an amendment to the law passed last March, which extends the time for preserving kits to 50 years.
It is emphasized that samples taken during the tests will not be used, without filing a complaint with the police or before the victims give their consent.
Finally, the circular also emphasizes the release procedures and states that in the release letter, the details of the incident should not be specified in order to maintain privacy.
The published rules detail the principles of treatment of victims and emphasize that treatment will be given without prejudice.
Each treatment requires the patient's consent after an explanation has been given of its nature and the actions taken, in order to coordinate expectations and prevent distress, surprise or misunderstanding of the actions.
