It is true.

Young boys get older too.

The Tegernseer Tanzlmusi is celebrating a small anniversary.

This folk music formation with the seven musicians, who all come from the Tegernsee valley, has been around for 15 years.

They will present their album at the celebrations in Nobody's Bichl.

Gmund –

They were crazy about music when they founded the hitherto rather unusual line-up for a dance music group: two flugelhorns, two bass flugelhorns, tuba, guitar and diatonic accordion.

The sound pulled in, pulled on.

Even if it is of course cheeky to use this foreign word for this kind of music.

The seven boys are invited to performances throughout the Alps.

And not only there: they have even been heard in Palo Alto, New York and Singapore.

They play in different line-ups if desired.

They are still crazy about music.

Only, life goes on.

Not all of the founding members are with us anymore, but they still help out, like Seppi Bogner and Martin Wiesner, when they are needed.

But you can see from them: The boys are all in the middle of life today, have families, a business or an economy.

It's going to be a challenge to continue the musician's life.

15 years Tegernseer Tanzlmusi: A new CD for the anniversary

For the anniversary they recorded a CD at Bogner Records in Rottach-Egern.

Folk music, brass music and Oberkrainer titles were recorded.

It's called "Schneidig on the way".

Just like the boys are.

"We are particularly pleased that more than half of the titles on this CD come from our own pen," says Thomas Eberl, who coordinates the performances for everyone.

The recordings start with the piece of the same name "Schneidig Weg" by Seppi Stieglmeier, then there is the Oberacher Boarischen, which Eberl wrote.

And a piece, also from his pen, called "Beim Aibl", a proper polka, is probably a homage to the innkeeper of the same name from Kreuth.

But there is also a Tobi Reiser piece, "Goldeggwenger Boarischer", and a folk tune.

"Bins a young widower" is the name of it.

There is also singing with the polka.

Just like the brass music classic "Can you cook dumplings".

Sounds dynamic and the music is as vivacious as you appreciate and know it.

It distinguishes the Tegernseer Tanzlmusi that Sepp Spiel and Stieglmeier (bass flugelhorn), Eberl, Hans Dießl and Sepp Seestaller (flugelhorn), Klaus Miller (guitar) and Klaus Leitner (ziach) make real music.

But there is also the point that has hit the common musician's life hard.

Sepp Lechner died unexpectedly in 2020.

He left a void that still hurts everyone.

That's why they dedicate the CD to his memory and celebrate life for the release.

On Thursday, June 16, the CD will be presented at a large meeting of musicians in Keinsbichl near Gmund.

In addition, there are the Tiroler Wirtshausmusi, the Hallgrafen Musikanten, the Göllwurz'n Musi and the Riederinger Musikanten.

"We'll play that the angels dance along in heaven," promises Thomas Eberl.

Proper and dashing.

Let's hope that Peter doesn't let it rip too much.
