The rape case in Cyprus: The
young British woman who claimed in 2019 that she was raped by several young Israelis in a hotel on the island of Ayia Napa, will file a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights, the British newspaper "Independent" revealed today (Wednesday).
According to the report, the 22-year-old's complaint was intended to put pressure on the Cypriot authorities to reopen the investigation into the affair, after she was acquitted last January of perjury and false complaint in the country's Supreme Court.
The move was further reported after the Cypriot authorities announced that they would not reopen the case, despite a ruling by the country's Supreme Court that there were significant deficiencies in the conduct of the police in the case.

The young woman's lawyer told the British newspaper she was "determined to fight and get justice in her case. Her historic victory is fitting due to police misconduct".
The young British woman claimed that she had been forced by the police to withdraw her claims and that she had been raped by 12 young Israelis in a hotel in the resort city.
Her lawyers have appealed to the Human Rights Court, claiming that the young woman's rights have been violated by the Cypriot authorities, which provides grounds for applying to the court, of which Cyprus is also a member.
