Of the eight declared fires, in Artesa de Segre (Lleida) 500 hectares of vegetation have been affected and in Corbera d'Ebre (Tarragona) 200 hectares have already burned

The Firefighters of the Generalitat are working to extinguish eight fires, although there are two of the greatest magnitude: the one in Artesa de Segre (Lleida), which already affects some 500 hectares of vegetation, and the one in Corbera d'Ebre (Tarragona). , where they work in an area of 200 hectares.

As reported by the firefighters, at 1:11 p.m. they received the alert of the fire that affects the villages of Baldomar, La Clua and Os de Balaguer, in Artesa de Segre (Lleida), where they have asked the neighbors to confine themselves because of the smoke, although some 20 residents of the Clua have preferred to leave their homes.

In addition, they have evaluated 54 people from a summer camp, of which about 40 were minors, and those responsible for the Os campsite have also voluntarily decided to close the establishment.

Although so far the fire in Artesa de Segre has already affected some 500 hectares, those responsible for the fire department calculate that the potential of the fire could reach 20,000 hectares.

55 ground crews and 4 air assets (two command helicopters and two bombers) are working on this fire.

The firefighters have the collaboration of the municipalities and farmers, who with their tractors have contributed to tilling the fields so that the troops could have a place from which to stop the fire.

In the case of the Corbera d'Ebre fire, the alert was received at 2:54 p.m. and the flames affect the Camposines area, where 40 ground crews and 6 air assets work (2 command helicopters, 2 bombers and 2 surveillance and attack aircraft).

The fire has spread to secondary sources and the firefighters have had to request the closure of the TV-7333 road between Fatarella and Vilalba dels Arcs.

The storms that come from Aragón, which move the wind towards the area of the fire, have complicated the extinction tasks, although the firefighters have managed to drive the fire towards an area of fields, near the road.

Rural agents have established a perimeter of the affected area and firefighters have been distributed in an area of 200 hectares to deal with this fire.

Several fires in Lleida

The delegate of the Generalitat in Lleida, Bernat Solé, has highlighted the participation of the farmers, in addition to thanking the work of all the firefighting teams.

"The situation is extremely serious," he said, in addition to emphasizing that there is no need to regret personal injury.

The other six fires in which the firefighters are working are, for now, of lesser intensity and, presumably, have been caused by lightning strikes in the Lleida regions.

The alert for the first two fires was given at 6:50 p.m., in Coll de Nargó, where there are six ground crews, which are very close to each other and in an area of difficult access.

Lleida concentrates the largest number of declared fires.

The third fire has been declared in Castellar de la Ribera and five land crews are working on it.

The fourth notice was received at 7:22 p.m. and was declared in Oliana, where two firefighters are facing the flames.

The alert for the fifth was received at 7:28 p.m., where lightning struck a rocky area in Abella de la Conca, starting the flames facing two crews.

Finally, another vegetation fire has affected La Foradada this afternoon;

The notice was received at 5:12 p.m. and 9 ground crews were mobilized, which are still soaking the area, although in this case the fire is completely surrounded by a line of water since just before seven in the afternoon.
