The Ministry of Health announced today (Wednesday) that it will cease operations at the "Emek HaEla" residence in Ashkelon until further notice.
This, after the director of the daycare center reported an abnormal outbreak of diarrhea and vomiting, among 35 children.
Following an epidemiological investigation, the district physician ordered that the children be referred to a attending physician for stool testing, coronary examination and medical treatment.
At the same time, she ordered a thorough cleaning and disinfection throughout the center, including classrooms, a kitchen, toilets, an elevator and a yard.
Also, curtains and textiles of various kinds (such as fur dolls), will be sent for washing and will not be returned to the residence until the end of the illness and the return of the garden to activity.
Also, tomorrow a sanitary inspection will be carried out at the residence and further instructions will be passed.
The home will reopen when the cleaning and disinfection operations are completed, if there are no further cases of illness, and only after receiving approval from the Ministry of Health.

The Ashkelon municipality said in response that "upon learning of the illnesses at the daycare center, the municipal society and the kindergarten staff acted in full transparency with the parents and updated them regularly on what was happening, including distributing detailed messages and instructions to parents on how to prevent infection."
"Today, the District Health Bureau, which is the sole authority to do so, ordered the closure of the daycare center until the necessary disinfection and cleaning operations are completed in such cases," the municipality said.
