The price of eggs dropped? These are the main points of the agreement in the laying industry as part of the agricultural reform Israel today

The Ministers of Agriculture and Finance are soon expected to announce the agreements they have reached with the farmers regarding reform in the industry. • Main agreement: Planning for the laying industry will be completed within 10 years.

The agricultural reform is underway: the Minister of Agriculture, Oded Forer, and the Minister of Finance, Avigdor Lieberman, are expected to announce soon the agreements they have reached with the farmers.

The Knesset today discussed the repeal of some of the orders decided on as part of the agriculture reform relating to honey and eggs.

Tonight, the Knesset did not approve the orders as part of the agriculture reform - which is a victory for the opposition.

However, this is only a moral victory.

Although the coalition does not succeed in passing legislation in the plenum, agreements were previously reached between Ram Shefa, Ram Ben Barak and Alon Shuster together with the farmers and the ministers of agriculture and finance on changing the reform - so there is no effect to the loss on these orders.

In light of the agreements reached, the new orders will be signed in accordance with what has been agreed with the farmers.

"Israel Today" has received a document detailing the main points of the agreement in the dumping industry: The planning of the dumping industry will be completed within 10 years.

The Minister of Agriculture may, if necessary, extend the period by a further three years.

Immediate reduction of customs duties on eggs to 15 ag.

Customs will then drop to 14 ag.

In return, the investment budget for growers will be increased accordingly.

At the end of the planning, an order will be approved that will reduce the customs duty for eggs to 10 agorot per egg.

It was further agreed that the older generation coops will continue to operate for three years, and an exceptions committee will be established for the continued operation of coops in special cases, with the approval of the Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Egg price

At the beginning of next month, the price of the egg will rise by 4.3 ag per tower, due to the rise in food prices for laying hens resulting from the war between Russia and Ukraine.

The price to the consumer will remain monitored.

As a result, the price of a tray of 12 eggs will increase by about 52 cents.

On the other hand, as mentioned, it was agreed to reduce the customs duty from 30 agorot to 14 agorot per egg, which is not certain to be passed on to the consumer.

It was further agreed that no request would be submitted for an increase in the price of the egg at least until the beginning of November.

In addition, a change will be made in the price control structure, so that it will control the price per tower and not the consumer price.

It was also agreed that the industry would support an amendment to extend the validity of an egg to 28 days, and that the state would allocate NIS 300 million for investments for growers who remain in the industry and for growers in cages without cages.

The Ministry of Agriculture will offer quota redemption to those leaving the industry, at a price of NIS 1.5 per egg, and according to criteria, the revenue will not exceed NIS 100 million.

In addition, an inter-ministerial joint team will be established with the breeders and CNT (the government insurance company that insures the farmers) to examine the insurance for the poultry farms.

Elad Malka, director general of the public lobby "Our interest" in response to agreements between the Minister of Agriculture and the agricultural lobby in the laying industry: "We welcome the agreements.

Eggs in Israel are already expensive today compared to the West and most OECD member countries.

The agreement must be anchored in legislation that cannot be changed later.

We call on all Knesset members to support the abolition of planning and the reduction of tariffs for the benefit of the entire consumer public. "
