Windsor – It has been rumored for months that Prince William (39) and Kate Middleton (40) (here all the news on the topic page) are busy making plans to move, now their departure from London is getting closer.

Together with their three children, the ducal couple apparently wants to move to Adelaide Cottage near Queen Elizabeth II (96).

New home for William and Kate's family: Windsor instead of London

Rural idyll instead of hectic city life: Queen Elizabeth II moved to Windsor several years ago, and grandson William is now following in her footsteps.

The family of five of the future heir to the throne will soon be able to visit the British monarch regularly, after all, her new home is just a stone's throw from Windsor Castle.

In 1831, the Adelaide Cottage was built for King William IV (71, † 1837) wife Queen Adelaide (57, † 1849), who used the cottage primarily as a retreat.

Well-known residents include Peter Townsend (80, † 1995), whose affair with Princess Margaret (71, † 2002) became public in the 1950s.

In Windsor, hopefully, William and Kate's children can enjoy a somewhat carefree childhood away from the storm of camera flashes.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are moving: This is what their new home Adelaide Cottage looks like

As a Palace source confided to The Sun, William and Kate are said to have wished for a "modest home."

Before they move in in the summer, it does not have to be extensively or costly renovated, which is said to have been a selection criterion for the senior royals.

The simple Adelaide Cottage, which was last modernized in 2015, is surrounded by trees.

It has four bedrooms and a marble fireplace, and the master bedroom is said to have gilded dolphins on the ceiling.

Prince William and Kate Middleton apparently want to do without staff who live in the house.

William and Kate's children are about to change schools

The three lively offspring Prince George (8), Princess Charlotte (7) and Prince Louis (4) will certainly provide a breath of fresh air.

The move will probably take place at the beginning of the coming school year in September.

George and his younger sister are currently attending Thomas's Battersea Private School in London.

According to the insider, the three siblings will be educated at the same school in Windsor.

"The children will enjoy running and playing in the gardens, which is the kind of life they enjoy so much at Anmer Hall," the anonymous source said.

Key motivation: William and Kate want to keep Prince Andrew in check

The parents of three will probably continue to keep their Anmer Hall country estate in Norfolk.

Since 2017, London's Kensington Palace has been the Cambridges' hideaway.

William and Kate's desire for a fresh start in Windsor is also said to be related to Prince Andrew's great influence on the Queen.

The Duke of York resides at Royal Lodge, also in Windsor Great Park in Berkshire.
