A two-day strike will begin today (Thursday) at all medical institutions in protest of the violence against medical staff.

As part of the strike, the hospitals will work on a Saturday basis and will continue to carry out emergency treatments.

The strike follows a violent incident that took place two days ago at the Clalit Health Fund branch in Beer Yaakov, during which a doctor was moderately injured after a patient hit her with an iron bar and injured her.

As a sign of solidarity with the protest, the nurses and brothers also announced that they would join the strike at all hospitals.

In addition, the community and public health clinics, as well as the Pharmacists' Association, will close all pharmacies in Clalit Health Services tomorrow.

As part of the strike, the hospitals will work on a Saturday and holiday basis, including emergency treatments - urgent dialysis services, intensive care, emergency rooms, delivery rooms, preterm infants and oncology treatments.

The HMOs are also joining the strike and have announced that they will operate one primary-care primary clinic in each major city, as will the outpatient clinics.

The clinics that did not sit down would be gastrointestinal institutes (for operations that cannot be postponed), day care, oncology, late systems reviews for pregnant women and IVF treatments.

The IDF doctors, the Ministry of Defense, the Israel Police and the Prison Service will not be on strike. On the other hand, doctors working in the health bureaus, school doctors, doctors working in government ministries and other medical institutions will sit.

Meanwhile, the National Information System and the Ministry of Health have launched a joint campaign calling for uprooting the phenomenon of violence against medical staff.

"Teams are working day and night to save lives and suffer from a violent atmosphere in hospitals, the community and social networks. Bullying and violence must stop!"

Prof. Nachman Ash, director general of the Ministry of Health, said on the subject that "we will not let go until the phenomenon of violence is eradicated, all the authorities must join hands and root out this evil scourge."
