The members of a clan who participated in armed clashes for the control of drug trafficking, between November 2019 and March 2020, in the Planoise district of Besançon were sentenced Thursday in correctional to sentences of 3 to 10 years in prison.

Considered the leader, Youssouf Abdou, 25, was sentenced to 10 years, the maximum sentence he faced.
“
The court considered that you were the main leader of this group and that you made the link between all the protagonists
”, explained the president of the Besançon criminal court, Guillaume de Lauriston.
His brother, Omar Abdou, 27, was also sentenced to 10 years in prison, the court having "
the conviction
" that he is "
a drug trafficker
".
Repeat offender, he faced 20 years.
He was acquitted of criminal association for the shootings.
18 episodes of gunfights
Since Monday, seven defendants aged 23 to 30 were tried for "
criminal association
", "
drug trafficking
" and "
aggravated intentional violence, in a meeting and with a weapon
".
Four other defendants were sentenced to terms ranging from 3 to 9 years in prison, the last being totally released, as demanded by his lawyer, Me Ornella Spatafora.
The lawyer had pointed out that her client was not cited by any of the other protagonists in the telephone tapping conducted by the police.
During the proceedings, two of the defendants partially acknowledged the facts, the others claiming not to be involved.
The public prosecutor of Besançon, Étienne Manteaux, had requested Wednesday from 5 to 15 years in prison against them.
In addition, eight minors presumed members of this clan will soon be tried before the juvenile court and ten "
little hands
" will be tried during a later trial.

Between November 2019 and March 2020, two rival gangs, two clans clashed for control of drug trafficking in this district of republican reconquest (QRR).
This gang war had given rise to 18 episodes of firefights, leaving eleven wounded in total on both sides, including minors, and a 23-year-old dead.
The investigation into this homicide is still ongoing.
The alleged members of the second clan will be tried in a separate trial in the fall.
A total of 57 people have been indicted in this case which has greatly shaken the 20,000 inhabitants of the popular district of Planoise.
