An indictment was filed in the Krayot Magistrate's Court today (Thursday) against a 39-year-old Nahariya resident, Oren Owenono, for attempting to take advantage of the "reputation" of his compatriot, the well-known criminal Michael Moore, to blackmail a senior Kibbutz resident in the north.

According to the indictment, the offender demanded NIS 50,000 and threatened to reveal an affair he had with a senior official about a decade ago.

On the other hand, the police investigation acquitted Michael Moore of any connection to the incident.

The affair began last Tuesday, when a government office employee received a WhatsApp call from Oweno's phone.

According to the indictment, the conversation featured a picture of Michael Moore, who is publicly known as a senior figure in the criminal world.

In the conversation, the offender told the senior official that "people want to reach him about an old incident that happened a few years ago with a girl."

After a few minutes, he called him again and told him that he had closed with the people who wanted to "reach him" compensation of 50 thousand shekels.

According to the prosecution, when the senior official informed Uannon that he did not have such an amount, the defendant offered to transfer about NIS 15,000 that evening.

To Oweno's astonishment, the blackmailed man asked to consult with his partner, who turns out to have been with him in the vehicle and he shared it with her, so that he actually actually neutralized the sting in the blackmail.

So, according to the indictment, in the next call, Uannon threatened him and claimed, "I gave your number to the slave. Get out of the center, get along."

Then he sent seniors messages like "this story will lose direction, you are a big kid, it will have serious consequences, I wanted to help it be only good", and "they came out to you, answer them, you made a serious mistake".

The senior immediately complained to the police, and the next day the Nahariya police had already searched Owenonu's home, where two mobile devices were found.

A police officer who was on the search called the phone number from which the messages were sent and one of the devices started ringing.

During his interrogation, Owenunu claimed that he performed what was attributed to him as a prank, and that it was a member of his family and decided to "laugh with him."

Laununo has a rich criminal record that includes 11 convictions including theft, burglary, fraud and impersonation.

He has been serving lengthy prison terms and is already facing an indictment alleging more theft, amounting to half a million shekels.

Meanwhile, his detention has been extended in court until further notice.
