German authorities announced today the detonation of a bomb left over from World War II in the city of Hamburg.
The German newspaper Bild quoted a police spokesman as saying that "a group of children found a grenade remnants of war while they were playing with a metal detector near the Amspotel park in the city."
The newspaper added that the bomb was detonated in its place because there were no buildings nearby.
During the past years, the German authorities found many bombs and military equipment from the remnants of the Second World War, which took place between 1939 and 1945.
